Rising Tide, the innovative cross-border investment model developed by EBAN, Next Wave Ventures and GoBeyond Early Stage Investing with nine seasoned women angel/advisors to the fund located across Europe, and 90 women as participating investors, has announced a series of educational videos and webinars with educational partners that prove useful for any new angel.
What makes Rising Tide unique for investors are the added benefits of on-line educational materials, podcasts, quarterly live webinars and Q&A sessions, as well as access to the deal room on GoBeyond. Mentoring by women who are experienced angel investors as well as regional, and national events complement the experience.
European partner GoBeyond Early Stage Investing created 20-minute educational videos covering topics from basic introductions to angel investing to finance fundamentals and company valuation. Rising Tide partners with organisations across the US and Europe to create didactic materials for its investors that are also helpful to all new angels. The Angel Capital Association from the US has contributed through a series of hour-long video programmes and slide presentations illustrating angel portfolio strategies and angel investing best practices and EBAN has contributed its webinars and videos produced in conjunction with the European Commission InvestHorizon project.
These webinars and videos represent an accessible means through which potential angel investors can learn about the important role angels play in start-up development, what the financing landscape looks like for angels, what angels should be looking for vs. what entrepreneurs find appealing about angel investors, what it takes to help companies scale, and the legal aspects of business angel investing.

EBAN is the pan-European representative for the early stage investor community, gathering 170 member organisations in 59 countries today. Established in 1999 by a group of pioneer angel networks in Europe with the collaboration of the European Commission and EURADA, EBAN represents a sector estimated to invest 7,5 billion Euros a year and playing a vital role in Europe’s future, notably in the funding of SMEs. The EBAN Institute is an independent international research and education initiative fostering the development of business angels. Headquartered in Bruxelles, it bridges the gap between scientific research and practical experience. In Europe in particular the potential of risk capital has not been exhausted by far. The EBAN Institute facilitates an ongoing exchange of experiences not only within, but also across regional angel networks.
The goal of Next Wave Ventures is to drive diversity in high growth entrepreneurship and angel investing by increasing the participation of underrepresented groups. The first initiative of Next Wave Ventures, in partnership with GoBeyond, is Rising Tide Europe. Future programs will focus on minority investors, international investing, social impact investing, emerging markets, accelerators, and women’s empowerment.
Rising Tide Europe seeks to narrow the gender gap in angel investing by providing women the education and training they need to become sophisticated angel investors. The European programme is being steered by nine women who are also the lead investors. These successful business women have significant angel investing experience and are dedicated to increasing the number of female business angels worldwide.
The nine lead investors are: Candace Johnson, President of EBAN (France); Brigitte Baumann, European Business Angel of the Year (Switzerland); Jeanette Anderson, Board Member EBAN (Sweden); Patty Dimond, investor (UK); Maria Eugenia Giron, investor (Spain); Florence Korhonen, Chairman of Board NFBAN (Finland); Hedda Pahlson-Moller, Board Member EBAN (Luxembourg); Cindy Naegel, investor (Belgium); Selma Prodanovic, Board Member EBAN (Austria).
Go Beyond enables novice to sophisticated and small to large investors to build, manage and exit diversified portfolios of direct investments in young, fast-growing companies. Operating in multiple European locations and in the USA through Go Beyond Network, its team is comprised of seasoned entrepreneurs and general managers who are now business angels.
